Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad
225 Tenth St. , Boone, IA 50036 515-432-4249
The trains of the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad & Museum, a division of the Iowa Railroad Historical Society, traverse some of the most beautiful scenery in the heart of the middle west as they wind their way through the picturesque Des Moines River Valley. A trip aboard the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad will take you back to a bygone time as you board 1920's era coaches, or the climate-controlled dining cars of the 1950's. As you travel our line, you may be treated to the sight of deer, wild turkeys, or even an eagle soaring above the river. Other than our trolley, all trains cross the spectacular 156' high Bass Point Creek High Bridge. The Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad & Museum is one of the few museums in the world which allow you to witness steam, diesel, and electric railroad operations. The museum offers something for everyone, with dinner, dessert, picnic, and basic excursion train rides, as well as special events such as the "Santa Express", and "Day Out With Thomas The Tank Engine".
